I make this mistake several times a week! However, since I do, my microwave is very clean because I have to keep cleaning it. Therefore, I just pour the melted butter onto a plate and freeze it for a minute or two and it is usable again. (I do this ONLY if I know absolutely that the microwave plate IS clean. just so you know!)

lol, I've already learned that one from experience as well. I guess that counts as "Softened" right?
